Sterile Technique Required
Always use sterile technique when reconstituting and injecting peptides. Use alcohol swabs to clean vial stoppers and injection sites. Never reuse needles or syringes. Improper technique can lead to serious bacterial infections.
Bacteriostatic Water
Use bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) for reconstitution of multi-dose vials. Sterile water without preservative should be used for single-dose preparations only. Multi-dose vials reconstituted with bacteriostatic water are typically stable for 14–28 days refrigerated.
Infection Risk
Reconstituted peptide solutions can support bacterial growth if not handled properly. Discard any solution that appears cloudy, discolored, or contains particulate matter. Never use a vial past its recommended use-by date after reconstitution.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Most peptides have not been studied for safety during pregnancy or lactation. Do not use peptide products during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or if planning pregnancy without explicit guidance from a healthcare provider.
Endocrine Disruption
Peptides that affect hormone axes (GnRH analogs, GH secretagogues, GLP-1 agonists) can cause significant endocrine disruption. Monitor hormone levels under medical supervision. Do not self-administer hormone-modulating peptides without medical oversight.
Cardiometabolic Risks
Some peptides affect cardiovascular and metabolic parameters. GLP-1 agonists can cause pancreatitis and gallbladder disease. Somatostatin analogs can cause bradycardia and gallstones. Always disclose full peptide use to your healthcare provider.
Drug Interactions
Peptides may interact with prescription medications. GLP-1 agonists delay gastric emptying and affect oral drug absorption. Insulin and insulin-sensitizing agents may require dose adjustment. Always inform your physician of all substances being used.
Compounding & Research Product Risks
Peptides sourced from non-pharmaceutical suppliers may contain impurities, endotoxins, or incorrect dosing. Only use peptides from FDA-licensed pharmacies or approved drug products. Research-grade peptides are not manufactured to pharmaceutical standards and carry significant risk.
WADA & Athletic Compliance
Many peptides are prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), including BPC-157, TB-500, IGF-1 variants, GHRPs, and growth hormone secretagogues. Athletes subject to anti-doping testing should consult WADA's prohibited list before using any peptide.
Proper Disposal
Dispose of used needles and syringes in an approved sharps container. Do not throw sharps in household trash. Contact your local pharmacy or health department for sharps disposal programs. Expired or unused peptide solutions should be disposed of safely.
